Kandy and Colombo Tour Itinerary
On your arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred directly to Kandy (120 km/3 hours). Check-in and relax, before you head for an evening city tour of Kandy. The tour includes visits to Upper Lake Drive, Market Square and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. You will also visit the Royal Botanical Gardens-Peradeniya, which started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. There are more than 5,000 species of trees, plants and creepers inside the garden. Return and relax overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, check-out and leave for Nuwara Eliya (77 km/2 hours). En-route visit tea plantation and waterfalls and soak yourself in greenery. In the evening commence your hour long city tour of Nuwara Eliya-the ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidences of the British influence where houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions. Return and stay overnight at the hotel.
Post Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and proceed to Colombo (190 km/5 hours). En-route visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, which was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. The rest of the day can be spent at leisure and your overnight stay remains at Colombo.
Post a filling breakfast at the hotel head for a morning city tour of Colombo. A drive through the city takes you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street-the Goldsmiths quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where there is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dewatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Return and relax overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to the airport (40km/1 hour) to board your flight for back home.
